About

Please feel free to browse around all of the galleries on the Watson Art Studio site. My background is in art and I try to bring that artistic point of view to everything I photograph. Whether it's a portrait session, a corporate event or my fine art photography I always strive to bring you, the client, the very best that I can achieve. For my commercial work I have switched over to the professional mirrorless digital cameras from Fuji. These help me create the artistic look that I want and that my clients have come to expect from me. It doesn't matter if you are a Fortune 500 company or a small non-for profit company, I would love to make some photographs for you.

Recently I have been revisiting using film cameras and film for my fine art photography. I've also been incorporating it into some of my portrait work. I started off with picking up some cheap antique 35mm cameras and it hasn't stopped there. I've now progressed to and mostly shoot medium format and large format cameras. I marvel at these old machines that only run on springs and gears without needing a battery to function. Currently my cameras of choice are a Mamiya C33 system, a couple of Rolleicords and a Toyo 45a, 4x5 camera. The quality of these images rivals and sometimes beats digital photographs. There is an organic quality to film images that digital cannot capture. Are these easy cameras to use? No and there lies the beauty in it. You have to work to get the photograph. You have to slow down, concentrate, make all of the settings manually and if you did your job right...magic happens.

Finally, I have been getting back to my roots of painting and over time I will be adding these artworks onto this site.

I'm always moving forward and never staying still. Let's be in touch.

Michael
